If you are like a majority of the people I help on a daily basis, your entire work’s “world” is sitting on that computer in your office, not the one you use at home for personal use.

Have you ever thought to yourself, “If I only had all that work information on my computer here at home, I could be productive when inspired”?

Although it’s definitely not a new thing at all, more and more people are discovering that it’s far easier than ever to access your computer at work...from your home. Although it used to be a slow process prior to the advent of high speed Internet, speed isn’t so much of an issue anymore.

Similarly, some of us who really rely on our home computers, would love to be able to access everything on our home systems from work as well. That’s just as easy. Although it most likely requires a professional’s help to set up, it can often be done in under an hour.

The market has been flooded with remote access technologies over the past several years, so costs are minimal, depending on what your specific needs may be. You can either remotely control your computer as if you were directly in front of it, or just transfer specific files you would like to use back and forth between the two.

The old cliché “I have to go in to the office tonight, I’ve got a lot to do” is a thing of the past for most who have been set up with remote access. Many people who work for larger companies enjoy this luxury, while people working in smaller situations usually are just not aware that the possibility exists and haven’t realized it is very inexpensive to set up.

Some of us, including myself, spend a lot more time at home these days due to the progress in technologies, and more and more people work entirely from home than ever.

Many companies even offer ”telecommuting” days where employees spend one day or more a week working from home.

It’s clear to me that the trend is picking up speed as I set up more and more people for remote access every week.

As I sit in traffic on the busy Los Angeles freeways, trying to make it to my next client, I always ask myself, “Who are all of these people in traffic with me and where are they all going?” The answer is obvious.
